Excited! The first word that comes into my mind! I have finally organised my trip back to the UK for next month! Flights and hotels are booked the only thing left to do now is to look forward to seeing my much-missed family and friends!
This trip will also be a little break for me, sin hijos and all! How I treasure these little breaks from normality and it gives me some time with friends who I have not seen for a while, some since I left for Spain. It’s been long overdue and thrilled at the idea that I will also be celebrating my friends birthday – first time since we probably left school, so this is also a reunion and an excuse for a much deserved get together! Oh let the sambucas flow!
It’s been since June last year when I visited Birmingham. It’s a place that I always find myself always going back to. Having spent 15 years of my life there, it will always be my second home. The longer I spend time here in Spain, the more exciting it is to be going back to the big city where I spent my years growing up, seeing old friends and visiting familiar places.
Though I love the vibrant atmosphere, a few days spent there is more than enough for me. Yes, I’m turning into a country bumpkin! But it’s all good, a little of the extreme once in a while does well for my soul!
I’ve given myself five days to explore the city and catch up with family. On this trip, I also want to document more of the places I visit and write up a mini weekend guide. A lot of things change every time I visit, sometimes I get overwhelmed and find myself a little lost in the city I grew up in. How weird!
Of course I will be visiting my usual haunts, such as China Town, Brindley Place, The Bull Ring, Selfridges (yes, shopping!) and The MailBox are just the places I plan to check out again. I am also looking forward to visiting as many restaurants I can. Oh, how I’ve missed those! Spanish cuisine is nice, but the choice in Birmingham is immense! I get dizzy just thinking about it!
Can you tell I’m excited yet?

I am quite looking forward to a little trip back home too, but I guess I have to wait a little more. Though, my parents are coming over tomorrow!
