Would you believe that we are half way through 2015 is already? I hate to say it, but the days are crusing by so quickly as it does every year! It only seems like a few days ago that my in-laws left to England after spending the Christmas holidays with us. Now we are back to work, kids and life in general.
It’s not hard to figure out why, but January is named one of the depressing months of the year. Now that the glitter has settled and the last straggling tinsel have been swept, the ‘normality’ sets in. But hooray for the good weather at least, the thought of having to deal with gloomy days and snow back in the UK just makes the whole January thing even worse. So I have plenty to be thankful for and on that note, I want to write down a list of positives to lighten up this time of the year to help me appreciate and look back what has been the highlight of this month so far.
Trying out my new sewing machine.
I replaced my old machine just before the holidays, I got to try it out last week. So, I’m really excited to get hold of some materials and check off the sewing ‘to do’ list for this year.
The relief of not having to work on a big project at this time of the year
and appreciating that I have the time to spend with my family.
Getting excited at looking at properties around Valencia
. As we approach our third year here, we now feel ready to finally look for a home to buy. Renting in the first place have been a great experience, but this year can be the time for major life changes. Eek!!!
Keeping to my promise to read at least one book a month.
It’s been years since I read a good book, I was dissapointed with myself for letting last year go without even finishing one. This month I started on ‘Salem’s Lot, an old Stephen Kings classic that I wanted to re-read.
Looking forward to the second half of Walking Dead Season 5!!! If you’re a WKD fan, you’ll know…
Feeling proud
of my 7 year old for a glowing report. His confidence in school and himself have come on suddenly. Not only that his Spanish is almost perfect, his high marks and praise in Valenciano has given me an assurance that this year he will only continue to do well.
And not to forget the surprise trip
to the beach on my birthday morning.
So those are my list of positives and I hope that this month is productive and happy for you! Would you care to share one postive thing that happened to you this month?
