I wrote a post a few days ago about transporting our cat from the UK to Spain and I promised to write a detailed pet transport service reviews about my whole experience with the company we used.
When we first searched for the right transport service for our cat, we were shocked by the quotes that we have received, even though we are aware that transporting our cat via land to Spain will not be a cheap do, some companies surprised us by quoting us at least £1.000 to take Hank to Valencia. Just when we thought all hope was lost we found Posh Pet Travel Services a pet transport service based in Spain.
We contacted them and requested a quote, Rachel got back to us with the usual questions about our pet, pick up arrangements and drop off location. After that, it was very straight forward and we were quoted a reasonable price that we were very happy with. We also went by the reviews and their methods which we really liked the sound of. They seem like a very respectable company who are recommended by others and really do care about your pets well being from start to finish.
Rachel emailed us a very detailed itinerary with our quote and the required deposit of about 50% which needed to be paid to secure Hanks place and then the remainder to be paid 10 days prior to departure. She contacted us again a week before the departure date to ensure that everything is still well and to remind us the requirements such as Pet Passports and Medical Checks just to make sure that Hank will be ready to go. Everything was explained clearly and any questions we had were answered very promptly.
We were rather worried about Hank, as the only dates available for transport and drop off were earlier than expected. We don’t arrive in Valencia until 5 days later. So we told Rachel our concerns and she suggested to contact a local cattery that can take Hank on until we get there. I know this is probably obvious, but I didn’t think of it! So following Rachels advice we found a cattery in Valencia where Hank could be dropped off until we could pick him up. This made things a lot easier!
The day came for Hanks collection and we made sure that he was checked by our vet 24 hours prior to travel. Rachel updated us about her time of arrival the night before. We were instructed to prepare a small bag for Hank with about 3 days worth of food, a blanket (with the smell of home) and his travel documents.
Rachel arrived on time on the day of pick up, she checked that Hank had all the necessary documents and we gave her his ‘travel bag’. We said our goodbyes, and even though we were worried we knew that Hank will be in good hands. Updates of Hanks travels are also done via Facebook, which was great so we can track his progress as he embarks on his new adventure!
Once Hank was on his way we were constantly updated via Facebook about his progress with statuses and photos. He seemed to be enjoying his travels and surprisingly he was eating! Hank is a very homely and sociable cat, he has never been away from us for that long amount of time, so we were very worried about how he is going to react, whether he will eat or just sit there for days. But thankfully going by the photos and Rachel’s updates he seem to be very content and happy at least. He finally arrived at the cattery three days later and now just waiting for us to collect him on Monday, the whole family has missed him so much and we can’t wait to be reunited with him.
Rachel and her team have done a great job, we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again, I really cant fault the service that they have provided. It has been a very straight forward process. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Posh Pets Spain for the service they provide, not only they give out the most reasonable quote but a real peace of mind for pet lovers who are relocating our pets abroad. More power to you, and keep doing what you are doing!
