So, it’s that time of year again, as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer there is no mistaking that Spring and the Fallas festival is just around the corner.
If I was to describe the Fallas in Valencia to anyone who has not experienced it before I would say that it’s probably the noisiest and the most creative fiesta in Spain! Every springtime on the dates of 15th-19th of March, the city of Valencia comes alive in a spectacle of fireworks, fiestas and paellas.
Fallas is a tradition that the Valencians have celebrated for many years, it’s the way they celebrate getting rid of old things and burning them on bonfires as a mark of the start of Spring. In time, it has developed to a more elaborate and artistic display in the forms of ninots and amazing pyrotechnics that last for over a week!
Our first experience of the Fallas was unforgettable, and this Valencian event continues to be the highlight of our year. If you ever find yourself in this part of Spain, I would suggest to experience the Fallas, or even better put on your bucket list! I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
