7 of the best websites to help your child learn Spanish. Whether you’re thinking of moving to Spain or have already settled here. Here are some online learning platforms to help your child adjust to the new language.
Sending your child to a new school in a new country can be worrying, especially if your child has to learn a completely different language. When we moved to Valencia 9 years ago, we made sure that our children learn basic Spanish before and after relocating. However, this does not guarantee that your child will grasp Spanish straight away. If you were to send your child to a public or concertado school in Valencia, it’s more than likely that they will be learning the Valenciano language too.
Schoolwork in Spain is full-on, and if your child cannot keep up with both languages then it’s possible that they will encounter some difficulties along the way, or maybe even repeat a year if they fall behind. My youngest son who is now 13 years old has been exposed to both languages since he was 5 years old. But still, he finds some aspects of the language difficult. This is why we still opt for online tutoring even to this day.
One of the reasons why I write this blog is to help potential ex-pats with kids to have some kind of insight into our experience. Unfortunately, it’s not all sunshine and smiles when it comes to learning the language. There have been times when it’s been challenging and I found that extra help is needed. This is why having a tutor or continuous language learning can help massively, especially during exam times. It certainly makes things easier for my son and more importantly save my sanity!
Since starting this blog, a few parents have asked me for recommendations on how their child can start to learn Spanish. Well, the first place to do is to ask locally. Ask the teachers in the school. It’s more than likely that they know of someone. If you cannot find anyone in your local area, then another option is to find online websites to help your child with Spanish or Valenciano. Here are some online learning websites that I recommend:

Final Thoughts
Getting your child used to Spanish before immigrating to Valencia can help immensely with their confidence. Learning the basics is important so they don’t feel isolated as soon as they step into the classroom. Enforce their bilingual learning by using online language learning platforms or apps, as well as practice reading, Spanish YouTube videos and of course try to get them into watching Spanish TV too!
